Case Study: United Nations
Objective: Global Emergency Alert System
Target: UNOCHA Staff Members Worldwide
Solution: SMS Worldwide Text Alert System
Platform: WeText
Results: Instant Global Communication in all countries
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is the part of the United Nations. Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response effort. Worldwide communication is the key for OCHA during states of emergency. After much research the team at OCHA selected WeText for their emergency alert system.
UNOCHA had been looking for a company that could actually deliver text messages on a global basis no matter where the end user was located. After researching numerous companies, they found that WeText was the only company that could actually deliver messages wherever UNOCHA’s staff members were. This proved to be a challenge for many text messaging companies but WeText was able to live up to the claim that they could deliver messages wherever needed regardless of the location of the end user. As long as a cell phone can receive text messages, WeText can deliver to it.
The beauty of WeText is the ease of use in sending out messages from its back office. Initially this has been set up in case there is an emergency that needs to be communicated on a global basis, but over the long term this may also be utilized for simple communications as well.
